HELP! Bed Bug in My Hotel Room

I am at a hotel and saw this crawling in bathroom, is this a bed bug?

Hi Linsey,

It's hard to tell from a photo. Bed bugs rarely hide in bathrooms because nobody sleeps there, so the bug may be something else, like a carpet beetle or a young cockroach. Compare it with our pictures of bugs that look like bed bugs.

To be safe, pull back the sheets and check the mattress seams at the head of the bed and behind the headboard for live bugs, dark spots or shed skins. Keep your luggage on the luggage rack, away from the bed and floor. If you find signs, tell the manager and ask for a room that isn't next to, above or below the one you're in.

When you get home, unpack straight into the washer or dryer and dry clothes on high heat for at least 30 minutes. See our bed bug travel tips.
