Mystery Insect Bites

For the past 5 years I've gotten mysterious bites on my chest, thighs, and buttocks area during the night. My husband and I have checked and cleaned as recommended for bedbugs. Nothing has ever been seen that would indicate bedbugs.

He does not get bitten. What else would go under my night clothes and bite like this?

Thanks.

Editor Comment: Insect Bites

Insect bites are an allergic reaction, so it isn't unusual for one person to show bite reactions, while a spouse shows no bite reactions.

Discovering the source of mystery insect bites can be a challenging task, as there are many types of insects that can cause similar symptoms. Some common causes of insect bites include mosquitoes, fleas, spiders, and bed bugs.

To determine the source of the bites, it is important to pay attention to the location, timing, and number of bites. For example, bed bug bites are often found in a line or cluster on the skin and are usually located on exposed areas of the body such as the face, neck, arms, and hands. Mosquito bites are typically found on exposed skin and are more common in the summer months. Flea bites are usually found on the lower legs and ankles and are more common in areas where pets are present. Spider bites can cause similar symptoms to other insect bites and are usually located on the face, neck, and hands.

A professional exterminator may be able to help both inspecting your home and in what type of insect would cause the bite. If bites are all over the body it could have another cause such as a food allergy or the use of a new household cleaner.
